Hallie G. Sammartino, Ph.D., came to St. John’s
University in December 2011, with a background of leadership in all
aspects of marketing, including branding, strategic marketing,
organizational development, digital media, fundraising, enrollment
and public relations. She previously served as managing
director of marketing and communications at Boston College. Prior
to that, she held similar positions at Harvard Business School and
Harvard University’s Office of Development Communications. Dr.
Sammartino entered higher education after leaving the banking
industry.
Dr. Sammartino received her B.S. and M.B.A. in Marketing from the
University of Rhode Island and earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education
Administration at Boston College’s Lynch School of Education. She
is a long-time member of the American Marketing Association (AMA)
and its Higher Education group and serves on the AMA conference
committee for its National Symposium. She also belongs to the
Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), which named her a
Counselor to Higher Education (CHE) in 2006, and the Council for
Advancement and Support of Education. A consultant to for- and
nonprofit organizations throughout her career, Dr. Sammartino
served on local arts and cultural boards and councils in the Boston
area prior to her move to New York to join the St. John’s
community.
