The Project A.I.M. Mentoring Overnight Retreat was held in the
Linwood MacDonald YMCA Retreat Center in New Jersey on November
4-6, 2005. Forty-one students and three administrators
attended. The purpose of the retreat was for mentors/assistant
mentors and international student mentees to experience the
diversity of the group, to enrich their connections, and to enhance
the mentor-mentee relationship in order to achieve Project A.I.M.’s
mission of providing mentoring opportunities for Asian and
International students.
The facilitators were Christopher Coes, (former mentor/graduate
student), Frank Jerome (senior mentor), Margaret Nicolosi (former
mentor/administrator/graduate student), Fr. Duong Tri (Campus
Minister), Piya Vacharasanee (current mentor), and Rosa Yen

Project A.I.M. is subdivided into two programmatic areas: Project
A.I.M.: Asian Mentoring and Project
A.I.M.: International Mentoring.
All St. John's Asian students and international students are
eligible to apply to be a mentee and receive assistance. All
St. John’s University full-time sophomores, juniors, and seniors
are welcome to serve as mentors in the New Student Mentoring
components or simply as a participant in the programs.
Another mentoring program along with Project A.I.M. is Alpha Mentoring program. Alpha Mentoring is
a year-long academic mentoring program. All St. John's
first-year and second-years students are eligible to apply being a
mentee and receive assistance. For more information,

Project A.I.M. cordially invites St. John's University
administrators and students especially international students,
resident students, and out-of-state students to the “Celebrating
Thanksgiving around the World” event on Friday, November 18, 2005
from 3pm-9pm. To RSVP, send an email to Rosa Yen by November 15,
2005. This program will take place in the U.C. Lounge
and U.C. Commons and will include fun activities/workshops, dinner
& performances.
