The Fulbright Scholar Program in 1946 was established in the United States under legislation introduced by the late Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. The program was created to “build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the rest of the world” and supports the research of U.S. faculty and other professionals who travel to a wide variety of countries each year.
