Grymes Hill, NY (December 11, 2003) – Three St. John’s
University students from The Peter J. Tobin College of Business
each recently received $5,000 scholarships from the KPMG Stanley
Shirk Scholarship endowment fund during a ceremony on the St.
John’s University Staten Island Campus. Georgios Georgiou of
Astoria, NY, Matthew Chiapperino of Staten Island, NY and
Christopher Visone of Staten Island, NY were recipients of the
scholarships, which are awarded based on academic achievement and
financial need.
The three students, who were selected by the Department of
Accounting and Taxation’s Student Affairs Committee, are enrolled
in the graduate accounting program. Michael J. Shannon, a partner
at KPMG, presented the three students with their scholarships.
KPMG, a global provider of outstanding professional services,
maintains an ongoing, mutually beneficial relationship with the
Tobin College of Business.
