Queens, NY - The Accounting Programs of The Peter J. Tobin
College of Business have been awarded specialized accreditation in
Accounting by recent action of the Board of Directors of AACSB
International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of
Business. AACSB International accreditation represents the highest
standard of achievement for business schools, and fewer than 15% of
business schools worldwide have earned this symbol of
excellence.
"The academic programs at the Tobin College of Business have
been distinguished by the general accreditation of AACSB
International for over four decades," said Dean Richard A.
Highfield. "To obtain this special accreditation for our Accounting
Programs is a testament to the continued dedication of many people
here at TCB in fostering the evolution of our institution and
maintaining its place as a leader in business education."
To achieve accreditation, business programs must satisfy the
expectations of a wide range of quality standards relating to
strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and
students in the educational process, and achievement of learning
goals in degree programs. These standards are mission-linked.
During the accreditation process, the Tobin College of Business was
visited and evaluated by a team of evaluators that applied rigorous
accreditation standards developed by accounting educators, business
school deans, and corporate representatives with detailed knowledge
of management education.
AACSB International is a not-for-profit organization consisting
of more than 900 educational organizations and corporations. Its
mission is excellence in management education in colleges and
universities. Headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., USA, AACSB
International is the premier accrediting agency and service
organization for business schools.
