Now that the Queens campus has re-opened and classes resumed, St. John’s would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the students, faculty, staff and administrators for their cooperation during and following the apprehension of a gunman yesterday. We are relieved and grateful that every member of the St. John’s community remained safe.

Most especially we are indebted to the NYPD and to Public Safety for their quick and professional responses to the emergency. The Emergency Plan we put in place several years ago worked and worked well.

If you have not signed on for emergency text and voice message alerts, we strongly urge you to do so without delay. While we hope such an episode never again occurs on any of our campuses, we want to be able to reach you quickly if it does. You must opt in to receive these alerts. To do so, update your contact information in St. John's Central or the University Information System (UIS).

The safety of all on our campuses remains our priority
