Our annual President’s Dinner has become the University’s
premier fundraising event. The 11th Annual President’s Dinner
will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at our traditional
venue, the Grand Ballroom of The Waldorf=Astoria in New York
City.
The revenue generated through this marvelous evening will serve
as a major portion of the funding which is directly dispersed as
scholarships to our most deserving students. During the past
academic year, more than 95% of our undergraduate students received
some form of financial assistance, an economic reality that makes
the success of our dinner even more vital.
We are pleased that WNBC News 4 New York sportscaster Bruce
Beck will serve as our Master of Ceremonies, adding a distinctly
New York flavor to the festivities.
As is traditional, the President’s Dinner features the
presentation of our prestigious Spirit of
Service Award. Award recipients for
2008 include Mary and Lou Carnesecca ’50C, ’60GEd, ’00HON,
Assistant to the President and Hall of Fame Coach, Men’s
Basketball, St. John’s University, George T. McDonald,
Founder and President, The Doe Fund, Inc. and Maria C. and
Joseph H. Schwartz ’70C, ’72MBA, Retired Partner, Wellington
Management Company, LLP.
