Brian T. (’83CBA) and Patricia M. Shea (’83C)

Brian T. (’83CBA) and Patricia M. Shea (’83C) understand the concept of social responsibility. Both raised in strong families, they know firsthand that their actions impact others and they are careful to think of others in their successful lives as parents, professionals and philanthropists.

Brian Shea is president and chief operating officer of Pershing LLC, a subsidiary of the Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, where he has worked for the past 24 years—starting from the Management Training Program. Brian has had a career of excellence during which he served as Chairman of the National Adjudicatory Council of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD, now FINRA), a member of the NASD Board of Governors, Chairman of the NASD Membership committee and a member of various NASD taskforces and committees. Brian has also served the Security Industry Association (SIA, now SIFMA) as Chairman of the Membership Committee and is a two-time recipient of the Chairman’s Award for distinguished service to SIA.

Brian serves on St. John’s Board of Governors, the Fiscal Resource Management Committee of the Board of Trustees, as a guest lecturer at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, as president of the St. Joseph’s School Board and has previously served as Chairman of the Notre Dame School Board and the Diocese of Rockville Centre Region 22 School Board.

Patricia Shea is a devoted mother and wife. After graduating St. John’s University cum laude, Patricia had a successful accounting career at Time Warner for 6 years, but chose to focus on raising and educating the couple’s four children, Erin, Faith, Brendan and Daniel.  Patricia has been a volunteer at Notre Dame School and continues to be an active volunteer at St. Joseph’s School and Sacred Heart Academy, where their children now attend.

The Sheas are devoted, nurturing parents and as a result are committed to supporting Catholic education at all levels.  In their experience, Catholic education develops the whole person—setting a solid foundation for meeting life’s personal and professional challenges, and developing future ethical leaders. In addition to their tireless support of St. John’s and it’s Vincentian mission, they actively support these organizations: St. Joseph School, Sacred Heart Academy, Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation, Villanova University, Archdiocese of NY’s Cardinal’s Committee for Charity, York Street Project and the United Way of NYC.
