Campus Ministry devoted
six months to preparing 14 students to take part in a 10-day
service opportunity in Lourdes, France, assisting terminally
ill and other patients who journey to the famed baths to pray to be
cured. This first-time Campus Ministry opportunity proved so
mutually rewarding that the University plans to offer it again.
“One of our real obligations as a University is to prepare our
students to be able to enter into a situation of service and be
truly of service and not a spectator,” says Vice President for
University Ministry Pamela Shea-Byrnes. She adds: “Our students
understand that working with the sick is a privilege that deepens
their compassion and understanding.”
