Others Believe in Our Mission

  • To further its mission to help address urban issues, St. John’s sought and received a total of $10,625,247 in government, city and state foundation, and corporate grants.
    These include:
  1. a $988,419 Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services three-year award to the University’s Division of Library and Information Science that will fund 40 full graduate scholarships for qualified applicants who are interested in careers helping underserved populations.
  2. a $737,916 U.S. Department of Education four-year award for The School of Education’s training program for teachers of children with disabilities in low-performance urban schools.
  3. three awards totaling $335,000 from the United Way of New York City for The School of Education’s Attendance Improvement/Drop-Out Prevention Program at three schools.
  •  The 10th Annual President’s Dinner attracted more than 1,200 attendees, raising an unprecedented $2.1 million.
  • Our alumni continue to demonstrate their Vincentian spirit, with nearly 20,000 alumni making gifts totaling $6,333,545. Loughlin Society membership grew to an all-time high of 1,918, with members contributing $6,660,051.
  • Donors taking advantage of planned opportunities contributed gifts of $2,266,059, and the University received $17,293,629 from more than 24,000 individual donors, surpassing previous years.
  • Students and their families in low-income Queens neighborhood middle schools will benefit from the innovative after-school program to be funded through a New York State Department of Education 21st Century Community Learning Centers five-year grant for $2,878,000.
