The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, A Man Who Would Cure the World"

More Information
Paul Farmer, M.D., Ph.D. has been changing the lives of the poor in Haiti, Peru, Cuba, Russia, Boston for the last 20 years and his work demands that the global health agenda include the needs of the poor.  Working from the philosophy that "the only real nation is humanity", he challenges us in this era of globalization to embrace "a preferential option for the poor".  His work is now a major force influencing health policy development of governments and international agencies such as the World Health Organization, the U.N. Millennium Development Goals Project, the Gates Foundation, Global Fund for TB, AIDS and Malaria.

Dr. Farmer and the work of Partners in Health exemplify the teaching of St. Vincent de Paul.  It is also an inspiring and challenging reminder that indeed one person can change the world.
