As we celebrate Founder’s Week 2009, we allow God’s love to transform us, living lives of virtue, working zealously to heal hearts and to alleviate poverty, This will reconcile individuals, families, communities, and create peace in the world. Founder’s Week 2009 urges the St. John’s community to become the transformers needed in the 21st century.

President, World Youth Alliance

President Mary Halpine of the World Youth Alliance will discuss her work in the realm of human rights and the ways in which young people can be involved in shaping the future.

The World Youth Alliance, founded in 1999 at the United Nations in New York, is a non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of each and every human person.

Mary Halpine is the current president of the WYA, which was founded by her sister Anna. A graduate of the University of New Brunswick, she has traveled extensively and worked in several locations, including Mexico, Germany, Hungary, the Philippines, Kenya, and Rwanda.
