Walk for the Homeless
A 5K walk in solidarity with the poor of our city. As Jesus died
for us all on this day, we hope to demonstrate our willingness to
share in Christ’s suffering, so that the world might share in His
resurrection.
This Walk is a pilgrimage in solidarity with the homeless. Our
hope is to raise money and awareness of the homeless epidemic;
therefore we encourage active participation (banners, prayer,
etc.). We discourage stopping for food and other purchases,
listening to portable radios, lagging behind the group, etc. We
also ask that you respect private property along the Walk
route.

Like every year, we ask you to help us raise money. Participants
are asked to secure sponsors who pledge money per mile or in a lump
sum. Encourage those who sponsor you to be generous. We are
counting on you to collect on behalf of the homeless in our city.
We hope to surpass last year’s Walk which totaled over $30,000.
All proceeds go directly to organizations who deal with the
needs of the homeless. Please make checks payable to St. John’s
University. Return pledge money to the St. John’s University
Department of Campus Ministry, Marillac Terrace. Donations will be
collected until Friday, May 4, 2007.
