Bereavement Program

Campus Ministry is sensitive to the pain and suffering you may experience should there be a death in your family. Once each semester we have a Mass and a luncheon for those who are grieving. Bereavement counseling is also available.

Catholic Bible Reflection Group
Queens
Share your faith, prayer and reflections on the Catholic Bible with a group that meets each Thursday from 4-5pm in St. Thomas More Church.

Catholic Men's Group
Queens
The Catholic Men's Group is open to Catholic men who seek to better understand their Catholic identity.  Group meets monthly and focuses on Catholic spirituality as it relates to their daily living as Catholic students.

This group is an opportunity to bond with other Catholic young women through prayer, scripture, reflection, and service.  Meetings take place weekly and offer a great opportunity to deepen your own faith, talk about life, and join in community with other students who share in your beliefs.  Journey with us as together we walk in the footsteps of Christ.

Interfaith
Queens
Campus Ministry seeks to foster the faith development of all of our students and offers opportunities to participate in interfaith services.  These services seek to promote fellowship, understanding, and respect for all faiths.  We invite all religious groups and students, commuter or resident, to join us for interfaith worship through song, scripture, drama, and reflection.  Services are followed by a dessert social to encourage continued dialogue and community between our different faith groups.  All are welcome.

Liturgical Ministry

Campus Ministry welcomes Altar Servers, Lectors, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to serve at Campus Masses. There is a training program and Commissioning Mass each fall. There is also on-going formation through an Evening of Recollection to keep up-dated on newest developments in Church Ministry.

Prayer Requests

Send your special prayer intention or a campus ministry/spirituality question or concern to our email address and we will process your request.  We also have an Intentions Book in which you are invited to write any intentions you have, and these are prayed for every day at Mass.

Retreats

Give yourself the time you deserve to get away, meet new people, pray, relax, and take stock of where you are. Campus Ministry sponsored retreats allow you to do just this. The weekends are led by a group of St. John's student leaders.  Reservations can be made in any Campus Ministry office.

  • Busy Peoples' Retreat: An individualized, private, 3- 4 session on-campus retreat offered throughout each semester at your convenience

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.)
Catholic Sacraments Prep
Queens and Staten Island
The R.C.I.A. process is available for those students who are thinking of becoming Catholic and for Catholics who wish to receive First Communion or Confirmation. RCIA begins in the beginning of the Fall Semester and meets weekly on Tuesdays during the Common Hour in the Church both semesters.  Participants MUST start the program together in the early fall semester.
