Dr. Fidel received his doctorate in Molecular and Cellular
Biology and Pharmacology at Rutgers Medical School. He did
postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School studying molecular
mechanisms of tumor metastasis in Dr. Judah Folkman’s group.
Subsequently, he studied the neurotoxicity of the Alzheimer’s
amyloid precursor protein and the functions of other neuronal
proteins, first in the Department of Genetics at Children’s
Hospital, Boston and then at the Department of Psychobiology at UC
Irvine.
After leaving the lab, Dr. Fidel spent two years on Madison
Avenue, in New York as Vice President for Scientific Affairs at
Nelson Communications, then the largest medical advertising, public
relations, and consulting firm in the country. He then joined
Alexion Pharmaceuticals in New Haven, Connecticut as Patent
Coordinator. During six years at Alexion, Dr. Fidel passed the
patent bar, attended the Quinnipiac College School of Law at night,
and was admitted to practice law in Connecticut. From 1999 to 2008,
Dr. Fidel was Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Neurogen
Corporation in Branford Connecticut. Since the beginning of April
he has been a partner at the Hartford, Connecticut headquarters of
Cantor Colburn LLC, one of the top 20 Intellectual Property law
firms in the United States.
