My name is Julie Amadeo and I have been working at the Writing
Center for two and a half years, since the second semester of my
freshman year. I am a Queens local who loves to read, write, cook,
crochet, and play the piano. Currently, I am in my fifth year of
the BA/MA program in English. My approach to working on a piece of
writing is through conversation. Asking questions and thinking
through my issues and arguments out loud is how I write best, and
so I endeavor to help the writers who come to me in the same way.
However, during my years here at the WC I’ve learned that
flexibility is key in helping someone make the revisions they need
to make. I try to go into each session with an open mind, keeping
my own experience with writing and what helps me in the back of my
mind. Yet, I am also open to trying new things on the spot in order
to do anything within my ability to meet the needs of the person I
am working with.
