My philosophy in the writing center is to
allow the session to commence as naturally as possible. I begin by
asking the client what they want to focus on. This way, we have a
designated starting point from which the session can develop. It
also allows me to see what parts of the piece the client is most
aware of. From here, we can work through the piece together to
identify other issues to discuss; however, we still have that base
point or idea that we can ultimately return to.
