The PARTNERS Program offers mental health services to
preschoolers, children, and adolescents who have been through
stressful or traumatic events and are experiencing emotional or
behavioral problems. The PARTNERS Program is designed to give
children ways to cope with feelings and thoughts related to the
traumatic event, and to give caregivers ways to decrease their
stress and increase their ability to gain their children's
cooperation.
The goals of children's therapy sessions are to help
children:
- Learn about themselves and their families
- Deal with upsetting feelings
- Increase self-confidence
The goals of parents therapy sessions are to increase their:
- Feelings of support
- Communication with their children
- Ability to handle children's problem behavior
The PARTNERS Program offers:
- Trauma-specific psychological assessments
- Trauma-specific individual and family therapy
- Services in multiple languages
- Weekday evening and Saturday hours
- Services at sites in Queens and Brooklyn
- Collaboration with ACS, schools, courts, and pediatricians
Payment options include a sliding-fee scale, Medicaid, and free
research projects.
