Abstract: St. John’s University
received the Title III grant to support program and faculty
development in problem-based learning. Our Title III Team is
currently working to develop students’ ability to engage in
problem-based learning and critical inquiry by improving
technological proficiency, enhancing information literacy, and
refining critical thinking skills through curriculum
revision. To this end, we have initiated a structured faculty
development program that addresses these three areas.
Important in our implementation program is linking the project to
our institutional goals, which include developing our academic and
institutional culture to be student-centered, enhancing resource
development in the area of technology, building an organization of
strong leaders, and institutionalizing new visions within the
context of external challenges. We have also
conceptualized and developed a state-of-the-art faculty teaching
development center, and set up a faculty technology enhancement
curriculum.
