Abstract
Counselor Active Rehabilitation Service offers counselors a
model for working with individuals with substance abuse disorder.
The model uses strategies that are client-focused, engaging, and
therapeutic rather than therapy. This model presents engagement
techniques that can build a therapeutic counselor-client
relationship and a counselor involvement component that assists
clients who would otherwise not be able to overcome barriers to
positive role attainment.
