Abstract
A partnership between faculty of the St. John’s University School of Education and the FDNY High School for Fire and Safety is intended to increase student attendance, improve academic achievement, and have more students earning the credits required to graduate. Elements of this collaboration include faculty mentoring, staff development, and an initiative called “WIN THE DAY.” The WTD initiative engages students, school counselors, and faculty around a theme that unites the school to produce the positive student outcomes stated above.
