Conferral of Degrees

The President of St. John's University and the Deans from the college will congratulate graduates as their names are read and graduates cross the stage. At this time you will receive only your "diploma cover".

If you feel that there may be difficulty in pronouncing your name, please see your Academic Advisor by July 7, 2008 to give him a phonetic pronunciation.

The Rome Campus confers degrees two times a year, in July and January and the precise dates are announced each year. The Rome Campus only holds one commencement ceremony a year, in July.

"Conferral" means that the Registrar's office posts a notation of the award of a degree in our academic record-keeping system and this notation appears on the transcripts. Students whose degrees are conferred in January are invited to attend the July commencement ceremony. If you are one of these candidates, please contact your Rome Campus Academic Advisor to request permission by January 31, 2008.

Note
No diplomas are issued until a student completes all degree requirements. Students completing degree requirements after July 17, 2008 will be conferred at the next date (January 2009) or whenever requirements are completed. No diplomas will be issued to anyone who has an outstanding balance on his/her student account. No transcripts will be issued until a student has paid all bills.

Certificates of Excellence
All academic honors will be tentative, pending receipt of final grades and the calculations of final GPAs.
