What are the requirements needed to
complete the out-of-class Discover New York
experience?
As a part of the Discover New York course, students are required to
complete several New York City visits and attend on-campus New York City
events as assigned by the professor.
One activity must be related to the arts in New York City. The
following are examples of programs that will be offered:
- Broadway and Off-Broadway shows
- Cultural centers/activities
- Museums
- New York City tours
How do first-year students complete the
requirements for the out-of-class Discover New York
experience?
An events calendar is forwarded to all Discover New York professors
and is also available in the Department of Student Life on your
respective campus, as well as on the Discover New York St. John’s
Central web page, which outlines all activities and programs being
offered. The events calendar provides students with first-hand
information about any cultural, transitional and fine/performing
arts programs being held on- and off-campus that can be used as
credit towards the Discover New York course.
