Course Description
The basic thrust of this course is toward an analysis of
objectives, roles, functions, and practices of instructional
supervision in elementary and secondary schools. Emphasis is
placed on supervisory leadership strategies and skills essential
for program improvement for teachers’ professional growth, and for
enhancing learning environments. The strategies utilized in
various supervisory approaches representing collaborative,
directive and non-directive orientations will be examined, as will
the assumptions underlying these approaches. Particular
attention will be given to the implications and applications for
the research on instructionally effective schools for effective
supervisory behavior.
