Course Description
As a core course in the Masters of Science in Program in Educational Administration, the course on Organization and Administration of Elementary and Secondary School Curriculum focuses on the historical, philosophical and practical aspects of curriculum in elementary and secondary schools. The knowledge acquired in this course will provide participants an opportunity to explore contemporary curriculum issues and enable administrators and aspiring administrators to take an active and informed role in the design, organization, administration, and evaluation of curriculum. Participants are requested to perform at a professional level of scholarship in class preparation, online participation, and completion of class assignments.

The purpose of this course is:

  • to have participants analyze the influences of philosophy on curriculum, from traditional influences to contemporary restructuring efforts;
  • to introduce participants to historical and social curricula patterns and designs for this century;
  • to examine how children’s developmental needs and interests can be interrelated to curricular and instructional decisions in elementary, middle, and high schools, and (d) to explore models for evaluation of curriculum and instruction.
