Intellectual Evaluation -

This evaluation provides an overview of the student's intellectual
potential. It also shows the student's strengths and weaknesses in
thinking during language and problemsolving tasks. A psychologist
conducts this evaluation and an informal conference and written
report is provided.
Language and Literacy Evaluation -
$200
This evaluation provides an overview of the student’s literacy
functioning. The results of these tests are used to formulate an
appropriate course of instruction in reading, writing and oral
language development. The diagnostician performs intake procedures
and generally tests for the following during the language and
literacy assessment:
- Initial parent interview
- Student interest inventories
- Word recognition and decoding skills
- Vocabulary development
- Oral reading fluency and comprehension
- Silent reading comprehension
- Listening comprehension
- Standardized test-taking skills (older children)
- Spelling and arithmetic computation
- Analysis of written expression evaluated by the New York State
Standards scoring criteria
This evaluation is conducted by a literacy diagnostician who has
completed a master’s degree program or higher in literacy education
and is a certified teacher in New York State. An informal
conference and written report is provided.
Both reports will be available approximately two to three weeks
after testing. Inquiries regarding the student's vision and hearing
performance will be addressed during both evaluations.
