St. John’s University remembers its roots, and that was
abundantly clear at Brooklyn Day.

This
special pre-game reception, held prior to the Men’s Basketball
team’s sold-out home game against the Syracuse Orange, welcomed
alumni from the University’s former Lewis Avenue and Schermerhorn
Street campuses. Guests mixed and mingled at Madison Square Garden
shortly before the game, reminiscing with longtime friends and
catching up with former classmates.
“I had forgotten how electric the atmosphere is here at the
Garden,” said Karen Madden ’68UC as she chatted with fellow alumni.
“It was great to see former St. John’s players and coaches at the
event because it reminded us of the University’s proud athletic
tradition.”
Two of St. John’s most legendary figures, Hall-of-Famers Lou
Carnesecca ’50C, ’60GEd, ’00HON and John W. “Jack” Kaiser ’49C,
were in attendance, sharing their thoughts on this year’s team and
providing their expert analysis of the upcoming game.
“Being here with these legends contributed greatly to the
excitement of the game,” Madden added. “Our seats were great, and
it was a lot of fun watching our young team. It was an enjoyable
time for everyone.”
