Title:Online Counseling Courses: Perceptions on Instruction, Assessment, and Outcomes
Description: This study examines the perceptions of counseling faculty regarding the appropriateness of teaching counseling skills online. It also examines students’ perceptions of the difficulties with the online learning format. It highlights some of the challenges for faculty designing online courses and possible assessments for students in those courses, as well as student outcomes.

Title:Wealth vs. Work
Description: This paper examines the vanishing American dream, growing inequality in America, and shrinking and struggling middle class. It positions the U.S. educational system at the center of the discussion.

Title:Developing Practices for Supporting Parents
Description: This paper describes the “In Collaboration Program” which was designed to offer pre-service teachers ideas to support parents. Integrated into a university math methods course, findings support the use of collaborative efforts between teachers in classrooms and parents of school-aged children.

Title:Using Cross-Cultural Themes for Publications
Description: This session will offer a discussion on the ways in which to integrate culture-related topics into individual research and the design, plan and coordination of special-issue journals on topics related to culture.

Title:The Effects of Arts Integration on Disadvantaged Student Populations
Description: This research examines the effects of arts integration on student achievement, social relationships, and cognitive processing for disadvantaged populations, including but not limited to students with disabilities and English-language learners.

Title:Blackboard Forum Discussions: Supporting Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking in a Virtual Space
Description: This interactive faculty discussion not only will feature data from an online forum now sponsored through Blackboard, but also will enable faculty to examine the development of critical thinking through concurrent virtual postings.  Theoretical and practical implications for reflecting in such a third space will be explored.

Title:Creating Career and College Readiness Opportunities for Middle Grades Students
Description: The current push to include college and career readiness activities in K-12 schools affords meaningful collaborative opportunities for universities. This paper presents two programs, “The Career Institute” and “The College Immersion Program,” both of which illustrate effective ways that universities and schools can collaborate to provide college and career opportunities for students in the middle grades.
