This is a five-year grant funded by the Department of Education to provide academic, social and emotional support for middle school students and their families as they begin to consider college as an option following high school. St. John's University was the only institution in the State of New York to receive both and federally funded and State subgrant for GEAR UP. The total award amount for this grant for the four-year period is $902,996.00.

Co-Project Director, Department of Education Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for University Programs (GEAR UP) Grant. This is a five-year grant funded by the Department of Education to provide academic, social and emotional support for middle school students and their families as they begin to consider college as an option following high school. The total award amount for this grant for the five-year period is $2,151,000.00. 

1999-2006
Project Director, New York City Board of Education, Post 5 Grant. This grant is awarded to provide academic, social, and emotional support for overage and undercredited high school students at the W.E.B. DuBois High School. The hope is that these students will pass the New York State High School Regents examinations and enter into either two or four year colleges or be prepared to enter into the workforce with marketable skills. The total award amount for this grant for the seven-year period is $2,358,606.00.
