The pro bono requirement presents a special problem for part-time evening law students. They typically work a full-time job by day, attend classes at night — often past 10 p.m. — and devote weekends to the legendarily demanding homework of law school. Many also attend class during the summer.

While they could be obliged to do pro bono work at night instead of classes, fewer good options exist for those who have day jobs.
