The Field Change program is intended for students who have received or have qualified for an initial certification in a field of education other than adolescent education.

You must bring an unofficial copy of your transcript to every advisement appointment or you will not be seen by the advisor.  Recommended order and pairing are listed. Download the program planning sheet.

Required Foundations Courses:

  • EDU 7297 - Integrative Research Seminar in Education
  • EDU 7000 - Sociological & Psychological Foundations of Learning
  • EDU 7222 - Historical Perspectives & Current Trends in Curriculum
  • EDU 7290 - Human Relations in Multicultural and Inclusive Settings

Required Methods Courses:

  • EDU 3270 - Strategies for Teaching Literacy in the Content Area*
  • EDU 7107 - Methods & Strategies of Teaching Middle School Learners in General & Inclusive Settings*
  • EDU 7295 - Teaching and Learning (Adolescent)*
  • EDU 7702 - Innovative Strategies in Secondary Education*
  • EDU 7666 - Developing Curriculum Material for the Web

Elective Course(one course from the following or one other course with advisor approval):

  • EDU 7412 - Creative Thinking and Problem Solving for Gifted Students
  • EDU 7106 - Socio-Emotional, Cultural & Cognitive Aspects of Middle School Learners in General & Inclusive Settings

Research Methodology (taken in last 6 credits of program):

  • EDU 7585 - Assessment & Evaluation in the Teaching/Learning Process
