Conversational Spanish
Students engage in increasing their knowledge of Spanish through a
conversational Spanish course. The course seeks to develop
students’ abilities in oral Spanish communication, widen their
vocabulary, and teach them aspects of Dominican culture.
The class begins at St. John’s University (Queens Campus), from
June 16 to June 27 (Monday to Thursday, 5:00 pm- 7:30 pm) and
continues for an additional two weeks in Santiago at Pontificia
Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). Students will
receive three (3) undergraduate credits from PUCMM. The class
will be taught by a professor from PUCMM.
St. John’s Course Offerings
In addition to the Spanish conversation course, students also have
the opportunity to take courses through St. John’s School of
Education and receive up to six (6) graduate credits for any of the
following TESOL course offerings:
- EDU 9002: Psychology and Sociology of Language and
Bilingualism
- EDU 9006: Human Development in Cross-Cultural Perspective
- EDU 9013: Research in Language, Culture and Communication
Students who wish to take one or two of these classes must
register and make payment of St. John’s tuition/fees in addition to
all other costs incurred by the Study Abroad
Program.
