Advanced Certificate in Literacy
Leadership Coach
Overview:
The Advanced Certificate Literacy Leadership Coach is a
15-credit certificate. The certificate enables
literacy/reading specialists to acquire the skills to lend
sustained instructional support to teachers and district leaders on
a one-to-one basis, in small groups, by grade level, by department
or by skills level. By developing skills in demonstration,
observation, and engaged conversations, the literacy coach will
assist teachers to improve literacy instruction for all students
through research-based practices. This certificate will also
provide the candidate with the ability to use data-driven,
evidence-based information to identify problems and make
appropriate educational decisions to improve literacy learning
especially for English Language, special needs and academically
struggling learners.

Certificate include the opportunity for educators to become
literacy coaches, researchers, school building leaders, literacy
advocates, and professors in higher education literacy
programs.

will be provided by St. John’s University.
