Elective Course ( 3 credits)

Students in the Mental Health Counseling Program may select six credits in elective courses related to the student’s needs, interests, and career goals but the program director or their advisor must approve these.  Courses may be selected from those offered within the department or may include approved courses from the psychology department.


Comprehensive Exam

In addition to the above course work, Mental Health Counseling students must pass the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam (CPCE) that is administered by the Center for Credentialing & Education, an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors.
