Policy on Tape-Recording of Classroom Discussions

The general policy of the School of Law is to prohibit tape recording of classroom lectures and discussions. However, audio-taping of individual classes will be permitted at the discretion of the instructor for sound pedagogical reasons. No instructor will be required to permit taping except under requirements of law.

Permission to allow the recording is not a transfer of any copyrights in the recording. The recording remains the property of the professor who may inspect, retrieve, or destroy the recording after its intended use. The recording may be used solely for the purpose of studying the materials presented during the class. The recording may not be reproduced in any manner.

Procedures
At the request of the instructor, taping will be arranged by the Law School Administration and the tape may be maintained at the reserve desk of the Law Library.
