Professor Goldweber is the Director of Clinical Education and
the Director of the Elder Law Clinic at St. John's University
School of Law. Prior to joining the law faculty in 1998, Professor
Goldweber was engaged in the active practice of law for twenty-one
years. Immediately prior to joining the faculty, she was a partner
at the firm of Goldweber Lauriello and Epstein L.L.P. and practiced
in the areas of environmental law, employment discrimination, and
family law.
She started her career as a legal services attorney where she
developed and ran a civil legal services program for low-income
clients in rural Wisconsin. She then served for twelve years as an
Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Protection Bureau
of the New York State Attorney General's Office enforcing
environmental laws in state and federal courts.
While at the Attorney General's Office, she negotiated a
multi-million dollar settlement for the remediation of one of the
largest toxic waste sites in the country. She also provided
training on environmental issues to state employees and traveled
extensively throughout the state conducting public forums. She has
taught negotiations, interviewing, and pre-trial and trial advocacy
skills at the Law School. She has also taught contract law to law
students in Paris, France, and at the China Judges' Institute in
China.
She served on the Executive Committee of the Environmental Law
Section of the New York State Bar Association and also served on
the Committee on Environmental Law (1996-1997) of the Association
of the Bar of the City of New York. She authored the chapter
entitled Pesticides and Herbicides, published in NEW YORK
ENVIRONMENTAL LAW AND PRACTICE BOOK (West Publishing).
