Y.S. (Steve) Lee joined the St. John’s faculty in 2006. An
expert in international trade law and business law, Professor Lee
is the author of internationally recognized books, including
Reclaiming Development In The World Trading System
(Cambridge University Press, 2006) and Safeguard Measures In
World Trade: The Legal Analysis (Kluwer Law International, 1st
ed. 2003, 2d ed. 2005). He is also an associate editor of the
Journal of World Trade, a premier academic journal in the field of
international trade law and policy.
Professor Lee is a graduate of the University of California at
Berkeley (economics, A.B.) and studied law at the University of
Cambridge (U.K.), from which he earned both an undergraduate law
degree and a doctorate. Licensed to practice law in both the United
States and the United Kingdom, his law practice experience includes
his service as legal counsel for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and Trade in Seoul, South Korea, where he advised the government on
international trade and investment issues and represented the
government in international negotiations and dispute
resolutions.
Professor Lee has taught at law schools and business schools in
the United States and abroad and is a frequent speaker on
international trade issues. Professor Lee is a Senior Fellow of the
Ronald H. Brown Center for Civil Rights and Economic Development
and teaches Contracts and International Law courses.
