Laptop Recommended Specs
While owning a laptop is not mandatory almost all incoming
students in fall of 2007 owned one. We support MAC notebooks as
well as PCs. If you are purchasing a notebook computer the
following specs are highly recommended:
- Windows XP professional or Windows VISTA Business or Ultimate
editions operating systems ( there will be limited support for Home
premium and Home OEM versions, however we do not support Home Basic
Version of VISTA)
- OS X.3 or better if you own a MAC.
- A minimum of 1 GB of memory (2 GB if running VISTA)
- Wireless capability 802.11 a/g.
St. John’s School of Law is equipped with Cisco 802.11a/g
Standard Wireless access points. Most notebook computers that are
less than three years old are equipped with wireless devices
capable of connecting to these access points.
The Wireless network in the School of Law is non-broadcasting
and you need your Active Directory credentials in order to get
access. Please stop by the IT offices in room 1-11 to learn about
the network ID and how to login.
