In its 2007 report entitled “Miles to Go in New York: Measuring
Racial and Ethnic Diversity Among New York Lawyers”, the New York
State Bar Association Committee on Minorities in the Profession
tabulated the performance of New York state law schools on a
variety of measures of diversity, including percentage of full-time
minority faculty.
For fall 2005 and spring 2006, the most recent semesters for
which data were collected, the St. John’s School of Law achieved
the second and third highest percentages in minority faculty
members among all New York law schools. With minorities
making up nearly 20% of its full-time faculty, St. John’s outpaces
New York City schools such as New York University, Columbia,
Cardozo, Brooklyn, and New York Law School on this key measure of
diversity.
