Mid-Term Grading: Fall 2011

October 10, 2011

Subject:Mid-Term Grading:  Fall 2011

Given the University’s goals of enhancing student engagement and supporting the academic progress of students, I write to remind you that mid-term grades are due by October 17, 2011. For the purpose of mid-term grade submission, the University defines freshmen as all first-time undergraduate students admitted for the current semester, regardless of the number of credits they have, and all other undergraduate students who have 24 or fewer credits.

You should receive rosters of your freshmen students the week of October 3, 2011.  We will turn on the ability to submit mid-term grades on October 11, 2011. In accordance with established practice, we will report to the Provost and Deans on the progress of mid-term grade submission.

I take this opportunity to remind you that mid-term grades are informational only.  They do not appear on a student’s transcript.  Although University policy requires that you submit mid-term grades for freshmen, you are encouraged to submit mid-term grades for all students. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 is the last day to withdraw from a class or to apply for a pass/fail option.

I thank you for your past cooperation in submitting mid-term grades. Mid-term grades afford students a better understanding of their progress at this key point in the semester, and help them in their planning for the remainder of the semester.

Feel free to contact me should you have questions.
