Making Life Better for Young People with Autism

March 23, 2011

It’s a developmental disorder that’s being diagnosed with increasing frequency in children all around the world, and while there’s currently no cure for autism, new interventions are making a lasting difference for patients and their families. On Monday, March 21, 2011 educators and legal professionals discussed these interventions at “Autism and the Law”, the featured topic of the Alumni Insider’s View…The Carol Gresser Forum. The presentations focused on the ways in which the rights of autistic children need to be protected to ensure their complete inclusion into the educational process.

“Conferences like this spread the word that we need to appreciate the differences that autistic children and adolescents bring to the table as students,” said Gary S. Mayerson, Esq., Founding Attorney of Mayerson and Associates, a law firm that concentrates almost exclusively on representing and advocating for children and adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. "When the members of the academic and legal communities work together, both the autistic child and society as a whole come out ahead.”
