Staten Island, NY - St. John’s University Staten Island campus
will host the Concerto di Primavera 2005, featuring Soprano
Cristina Fontanelli, conducted by Maestro Alan Aurelia, on
Sunday, March 13, 2005 at 3 p.m. The campus is located at 300
Howard Avenue, Staten Island, NY.
“St John’s University is delighted to host this event,” said
Joseph Sciame, Vice President for Community Relations at St. John's
University. “It is truly a collaborative effort, sponsored by
members of the New York State Senate and the Order of the Sons of
Italy in America (OSIA) in honor of the organization’s 100th
anniversary. We are part of an historic event and celebration.”
Cristina Fontanelli has performed for a number of heads of state
including, former President Bill Clinton and former New York City
Mayor Rudy Giuliani. She has toured internationally as a solo
artist and performed with many orchestras including the Boston
Pops, St Louis Symphony and Brooklyn Philharmonic. In 2004 she
received the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts from the OSIA.
Most recently Ms. Fontanelli was invited to open the ceremonies at
the Stars and Stripes Presidential Inaugural Ball in Washington
D.C.
The suggested donation for this event is $15 for adults and $10 for
students and persons 65 years of age and older. Children under
the age of 12 will be admitted free of charge.
