Program Objectives
To aid students in the job search process.
Participation in the Executive-in-Residence Programs enables students to differentiate themselves from others. Organizational recruiters frequently devote a significant part of the interview to a discussion of the Program experience.
To improve oral communication skills.
The Programs place a great deal of emphasis upon the development of presentation skills in a business context by first familiarizing the student with those essential skills and subsequently providing feedback to each participant on an individual as well as team basis.
To improve written communication skills.
Students are required to develop a written document containing their analyses and recommendations which is presented to the executives and Program Director.
To develop team-building skills.
Since the Executive-in-Residence Programs' projects are all team-based, students develop the skills necessary for success when focusing upon the attainment of a common goal by working with a diverse group of individuals.
To develop assessment skills.
At the completion of each project, students are asked to assess the performance of all team members through an evaluation process modeled after those used in business organizations.
To enhance student capabilities in the design and development of managerial presentations.
As a consequence of designing and developing several managerial presentations, and receiving feedback on each, student capabilities in these areas are further developed.
To develop business social skills.
Each organization's participation culminates with a social event (dinner and/or cocktail party) with company executives. The students have an opportunity to interact with these executives on a more social level.
Networking Opportunities.
The EIRP provides students with the opportunity to develop contacts which will help in building business networks which last for many years into their careers.
