The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program is a risk-based approach to management. With a special focus on the identification of the financial consequences of business opportunities and their associated hazards, the approach involves the proactive management of the enterprise to protect and create value for their stakeholders. The program focuses on the tools to identifying strategic directions and the particular events or circumstances relevant to the organization's objectives (risks and opportunities) associated with alternative strategies; to assess the risks and opportunities in terms of the frequency and severity of impact, to plan for or the determination of a subsequent financial or strategic response, and to monitoring the progress of the enterprise. The program involves a collaborative effort by the School of Risk Management and the departments of Accounting, Finance, and Management of the Tobin College of Business. Students requiring prerequisite material may be admitted, on a provisional basis, for an intensive course in August before the cohort program begins.
Advanced Professional Certificates (A.P.C.s) are available to individuals who have completed the M.B.A. degree, and are designed to enable these students to accrue additional knowledge or skills in another field, or update and enhance skills in their current field. A minimum of 18 credits are required for completion of the A.P.C. Students interested in accounting may need up to 33 credits.
