Associate Professor, Risk Management and Actuarial Science
Dr. Ping Wang conducts quality teaching and research in the fields of actuarial science, and risk management and insurance, to fully exert the solid knowledge and vigorous training he acquired while pursuing two doctoral degrees -- one in probability and statistics from Nankai University in China and another in actuarial science and risk management from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
He has recently published on the North American Actuarial Journal, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, the Journal of Insurance Regulation, the Journal of Insurance Issues, and Asia-Pacific Journal of Risk and Insurance. His work has won support from the Society of Actuaries. He has been awarded the Shin Award for Research Excellence by the International Insurance Society and the Outstanding Journal of Insurance Issues Article Award by the Western Risk and Insurance Association.
Dr. Wang teaches the subjects of corporate risk management, life and health insurance, theory of interest, loss models and applied statistics.
In addition to his teaching and research activities, Dr. Wang is actively involved in the professional events. He is associate of SOA and a chartered enterprise risk analyst. He served on the Committee for Life Insurance Research of SOA from 2007 to 2010 and on the program committee of the 44th Actuarial Research Conference in 2009. He also serves on several committees of American Risk and Insurance Association.
