STJ participates in NYS DOT Clean Air Campus program

February 14, 2012

St. John’s University is partnering with511NYRideshare ,a non-profit transportation management company that would help coworkers pair up based on regions, in an effort to expand campus sustainability. In teaming up with fellow employees by carpooling to work, you can help cut the University’s greenhouse gas emissions, improve local air quality and also improve your commute.

The first 10 employees to complete the survey receive a $50 Gift Card.

Our aim is to develop additional commuter benefit programs for the St. John’s community to help meet environmental goals and work/life needs. To help us better understand what transportation challenges you face, we ask that you please complete a brief Commuter Survey that will take approximately five minutes. Your answers and ideas are a key part of the process. You can help us develop options and programs that will meet your needs and improve current commuter benefits.

St. John’s University currently offers a pretax transportation benefit that allows you to purchase mass transit and vanpool before income taxes are applied. Up to $125 can be deducted monthly pretax. We encourage you to take advantage of this money saving benefit if you are not already enrolled by selecting “I want money deducted from my paycheck to purchase transit passes” in the Commuter Survey

If you have any questions, please e-mail either Tom Goldsmith at: goldsmit@stjohns.edu or Roxanne Bryan at: bryanr@stjohns.edu

Prize Drawings will be done on March 9

Sincerely,

Tom Goldsmith
