Hunger Awareness Month: Standing Beside Those in Need 8:00 AM As we gather to mark “Hunger Awareness Month,” the Office of Campus Ministry invites you to take part in a wide range of events that focus on systemic cause of and possible solutions to hunger.

Coat Drive 12:00 PM St. John's is assisting New York Cares in their effort to collect an additional 15,000 coats for New York City residents. Please join us by donating any new or used coat in good condition to help in this much needed effort.

Help Preserve Federal Student Aid Programs 12:00 PM St. John’s needs your help to protect federal aid for our students and their families. This past year, student aid programs have been cut by $30 billion. Graduate student loan benefits, LEAP state grants and year-round Pell were all eliminated due to budget pressures and efforts at deficit reduction.

Bereavement Mass 12:15 PM Each semester Campus Ministry arranges a Mass for the deceased loved ones of students and employees of our University Community. The Mass is followed by a luncheon for them and members of their families.

Season of Advent 9:00 AM The Season of Advent is filled with light and hope. With so much darkness and suffering in the world, we yearn for the promised Emmanuel, "God is with us." And so, at this often frantic time of year, we invite the entire University community to join us in a sacred time of waiting, silence and prayer.

A St. John’s-City Partnership, Advantage Academy Prepares Underprivileged New Yorkers for Success 8:30 AM Part of the Vincentian Institute for Social Action (VISA), the Advantage Academy was created through a partnership with St. John's University and New York City's Department of Homeless Services (DHS). Granting degrees to homeless and formerly homeless New Yorkers, the program is already changing lives.

The School of Risk Management hosts fall Career Fair 9:00 AM The School of Risk Management, Insurance & Actuarial Science (SRM) hosted its fall Career Fair on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 with thirty-four national and international employers participating, offering internships and full-time jobs in the insurance industry.  Companies recruiting seniors for entry-level positions were offering rotation training programs and international travel.
