2010 Gamma Iota Sigma Awards

November 02, 2010

Students from the St. John’s Alpha Iota chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) received top honors in 10 categories during the parent organization’s Annual Management Conference in Mount Pleasant, Michigan during the weekend of September 28-October 2, 2010.

Nearly a dozen chapter members were in attendance to congratulate Rajiv Sagewan, chapter president, as he received the Warren L. Weeks Leadership scholarship for his outstanding efforts to further the goals of his chapter and the fraternity. The other nine awards included public relations, alumni relations, chapter management, membership development and community service honors as well as awards for innovative and unique events.

Over the last three years the Alpha Iota chapter received Chapter Roll Call, Dedicated Service and Black & Gold awards. This year’s honors demonstrate the chapter’s continued growth and outstanding commitment to service.

Since November 1991, St. John’s has maintained an active chapter that currently has 63 graduate and undergraduate members and 21 alumni members to its credit.

Gamma Iota Sigma, an international collegiate professional fraternity for students pursuing careers in risk management, insurance and actuarial science, encourages its members to embody the organization’s values of friendship, knowledge, integrity and fidelity.
