National Hispanic Honor Society also
presents Poetry by Alex Lima
Epsilon Kappa, the St. John’s University Chapter of Sigma
Delta Pi, the National Hispanic Honor Society, will launch
Bilocaciones, the second collection of
poetry written by Alex Lima, an alumnus of the University and
former President of Epsilon Kappa on Saturday, December 3, 2011.The
event, which is open to the public, will take place in Bent Hall,
Room 277 A and B, at 5 p.m. at St. John’s University’s Queens
campus. Refreshments and food will be served.
Limareceived his
M.A. degree in Spanish from St. John’s University and at present is
completing his Ph.D. at the CUNY Graduate Center. The author
of two books of poetry, he is the co-founder of Entre
Rascacielos, Epsilon Kappa’s journal of creative
writing, and serves as editor of Hybrido,
a publication open to emerging artists and writers.
Limawill read
from his new book and be interviewed by Dr. Marie-Lise Gazarian,
Director of the Graduate Program in Spanish at St. John’s and
co-editor of Entre Rascacielos, the
journal that has been promoting poetry in Spanish for the past 10
years at the university.
The evening will
also be highlighted by a performance by Ever Uriel, guest musician
and former St. John’s student, originally from Mexico, who will
lead the audience in Christmas carols and perform on the guitar.
Laurel Quinn, a St. John’s student, will also sing and play the
guitar.
