New York Property and Casualty
Agents and Brokers 96-hour Course
In order to take the New York agents and brokers licensing exam,
candidates must complete a 96-hour education requirement. The
Center's licensing preparation course fulfills that requirement and
offers students thorough preparation for the state exam. The course
addresses both general and state-specific areas of the exam and
incorporates numerous tests that are used to gauge each student's
progress in preparing for this rigorous exam.
Individuals who must satisfy New
York's classroom requirement in advance of taking the State
licensing exam. This course addresses the general and state
specific areas of the state exam. During the course, numerous tests
are provided to evaluate an individual's progress. After successful
completion of the course, students receive a certificate that
entitles them to sit for the exam.
New York 96-hour licensing preparation courses are offered during
the spring, summer and fall semesters. The course is completed in
11 weeks, with classes held three nights per week (Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays) from 5:30 p.m.– 8:30 p.m. and three
Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
New York 40-Hour Personal Lines
We are pleased to announce that we have added a 40-Hour
Personal Lines Course to our Agents and Brokers Exam Preparation
curriculum. This course will be taught as part of the 96-Hour
Agents and Brokers Pre-licensing Course. Students who are
interested in this course will attend the first six days of the
96-Hour Course to complete the classroom requirement.
New York Agents & Brokers Licensing 28-hour Cram
Designed for those individuals who
are exempt from satisfying New York's 96-hour classroom
requirement, the Center's 28-hour Cram Course helps students master
the material covered in the New York property and casualty agent
and broker licensing examinations.
Upon completion of this cram course, the student will have been
exposed to all the material tested in the New York property and
casualty licensing exam, and some material relating to general
adjusting. Additional self-study is needed to master these
topics prior to sitting for the state exam.
The 28-hour Cram Course is appropriate for:
- Broker candidates who have received an approved Statement of
Employer Form documenting the applicant's regular employment by a
licensed insurance company, broker or agent for not less than one
year during the three years preceding the date of application, and
who have been employed in responsible insurance duties relating to
the underwriting or adjusting of losses in any one or more of the
following lines of insurance: Fire, Marine, Liability, Workers'
Compensation, or Fidelity or Surety Bond.
- Individuals who have complied with New York's classroom
requirement and have received a certificate of completion from an
approved education provider, but who have not passed the state
- Anyone having a certificate of completion from another
licensing school and wanting to take a refresher course prior to
sitting for the New York exam.

The 28-hour Cram Courses are offered on four
consecutive Mondays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., during Spring
New York Life/Health Agents and Life Brokers Licensing
New York law requires the successful completion of 40 hours of
study in order to take the state licensing exam for Life/Health
Agent or Life Broker. The Center offers a nine-week course designed
to meet this requirement and prepare students for the exam. The
course covers both general and state-specific topics that appear on
the New York examination.

The New York Life/Health Agents and Life Brokers Licensing Course
is offered on two Mondays, two Wednesdays and two Fridays, from
6:00 pm - 9:30 pm, and one Saturday from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
New York State Adjusters Cram
The Center's 28-hour Adjusters Cram
Courses are designed for individuals who are required to take the
New York Insurance Department's public adjuster examination or any
of the independent adjuster examinations, including the general
adjusters and auto appraisers examinations.
Please note: Company adjusters are not required to become licensed
in New York and, therefore, do not need to take an exam.
The 28-hour Adjusters Cram Course is appropriate for:
- Public adjusters
- Independent adjusters with the following specialties: Accident
and Health, Aviation, Casualty, Fidelity/Surety, Fire, Inland
Marine, General Adjusters
- Automobile damage or theft appraisals adjusters (only)
The Adjusters Cram Courses meet from
9 a.m.– 5 p.m. on Mondays. Courses meet throughout the year.
Participants need only attend those sessions that apply to their
specialties. Refer to the list below to determine the days
required for each specialization.
